Resource Agreements
No one owns all the assets they need for current and future uses. We rent homes, cars, and tools. We travel in airplanes, buses, and ships. We use assets owned by other people often either as a rental agreement or service use agreement. We may offer our own assets to other people using agreements as well. We need to decide when to make agreements, how to change agreements and how to keep agreements.
Starting Steps for Resource Agreements
(1) What assets do you need to use for a business or personal use. What is the benefit for using that asset? Who owns the assets you want to use? Is it available through a commercial use relationship or through personal relationships?
(2) What agreements can you make to compensate the asset owner for use of that asset? Can you organize the term of use to schedule the asset usage with specific start date and end date? What is the rental cost and transaction cost of using any asset?
(3) Once an agreement is made, how do you keep the agreement? Are there changes to your plans that require changes to the asset rental or use agreement? How do you change each agreement fairly for you and the asset's owner?
