Score Work Processes
While teachers grade student work quality often, they rarely score work rates. Without scoring work rates, some students never learn how to work fast on specific tasks. We can measure almost any task on a time scale as well as a quality scale. We can learn to write fast and calculate math problems fast just as well as we can learn to run fast. It only takes work and a conscious effort to score the work rate.
Starting Steps for Scoring Work
(1) Identify routine tasks that can be measured by time.
(2) Specify a work rate that is an standard rate, a slow rate, and an exceptional rate.
(3) Keep a scorecard of work rate performances over time to monitor improvements over months and years.
