Peer Goals
Peer goals apply to what we do for people whom we view as peers, such as our intimate friendships, social friendships and trusted co-workers. Peer goals describe characteristics of how we exchange ideas, resources and time. There is a higher degree of trust and understanding of needs within peer relationships compared to community relationships which bond through negotiated relationship rather than authority relationships inherent in families. A married couple use peer goals in their personal relationship and family goals for other family members.
Starting Steps for Peer Goals
(1) Do I know peers who need or want my help?
(2) What types of services and resources can I offer peers I know?
(3) How do I rank my peers to devote most of my time and resources to more important relationships?
